FAQ: Why is my custom email test unsuccessful?

Question:

I have entered all the required details to configure my custom email address but when I try to test, the test returns an unsuccessful error message.


Answer:

Copy the error message and check which error message you are receiving:

  • The server response was: 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail. Error: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, the user credentials were incorrect.

In this case the email address or password are incorrect. Check whether you made a typo when entering the email address or password. Try logging in to the webmail account of the email address with the credentials you use to see if they are correct. Reset your password or ask your administrator to reset the password for the email address you want to use.

  • The server response was: 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail. Error: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Tenant.

In this case the SMTP authentication is incorrect. Visit https://aka.ms/smtp_auth_disabled in order to enable SMTP authentication.

  • The server response was: 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail. Error: 535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful

In this case it might be the case you have MFA security enabled. We advise you to create an app password for Jobrock.

Microsoft 365 account: click here and follow the steps as described in order to generate specific credentials for your Microsoft 365 email address. Once the app credentials are created you can try again using these new credentials.

Google email: click here and follow the steps as described in order to generate specific credentials for your Google email address. Once the app credentials are created you can try again using these new credentials.

  • The server response was: 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail. Error: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, the request did not meet the criteria to be authenticated successfully.

In this case it might be the case you have MFA security enabled. We advise you to create an app password for Jobrock.

  • IP restriction errors. If there are IP restrictions on the email address, please ask the domain manager to whitelist the following Jobrock IP range in order to allow the Jobrock software to use the configured email address:
